The 30-second guide

How to divert a UK business number

The short answer
On any UK mobile, dial **61*[destination number]# to divert calls you don't answer, or **21*[destination number]# to divert everything. On most landlines it's *61*number# and *21*number#. That's it, no app, no engineer, free on virtually every UK network, and undone just as fast.

The full code list (mobiles)

Landlines: same codes with a single star, *61*number#, *21*number#, cancel with #61#, #21#.

Why divert instead of changing your number

Your number is printed on the van, ranked on Google and saved in customers' phones. Diverting keeps all of that intact, callers dial the number they've always used, and your assistant answers only when you can't. Your online presence never changes.

Quick questions

Does diverting cost anything?

The divert itself is free to set up on virtually all UK networks; forwarded minutes may come from your plan's allowance, like a normal outbound call.

Can I divert only outside working hours?

Easily, turn the "divert everything" code on when you knock off and cancel it in the morning, or just leave "divert when unanswered" on permanently.

Hear yours before you pay a penny.

Build your assistant and talk to it in your browser, free, no card, two minutes.
